< Back Senior Satellite Systems Engineer Apply Now Munich, Germany Job Type Full Time About the Company Infinite Orbits GmbH is the German subsidiary of Infinite Orbits SAS (Toulouse, France), a NewSpace company founded in 2017 that now counts more than 200 colleagues across locations including Luxembourg and the UK. We develop in-orbit servicing solutions - from awareness, inspection, and protection of space assets to life extension and satellite servicing - built on our own autonomous Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) technology. Our core product, Orbit Guard, is an in-space hardware solution with GEO heritage, and LEO capability currently in development. Building our Munich site marks Infinite Orbits' expansion into the German and European defense and space market, establishing a dedicated local team for business development, R&D, product development, project execution, production, and operations. About the Role As Senior Satellite Systems Engineer (Chief Engineer) , you are the technical backbone of Infinite Orbits Germany — the person who defines mission concepts, leads technical discussions with customers and partners, and carries projects from first proposal through execution. You own the end-to-end system solution across space segment, ground segment, launcher, and user segment, incorporating product and technology contributions from across the Infinite Orbits Group and its sister companies in France, Luxembourg, and the UK. You bridge mission architecture and systems engineering - shaping how a customer's operational need becomes a viable mission concept, then owning the technical substance of the proposal and the delivery of the resulting contract, while building and leading the engineering team in Germany as it scales. This is a founding technical role with direct influence on how Infinite Orbits Germany builds its engineering credibility in the market. Job Description Mission architecture & concept definition: Translate customer requirements into mission concepts and architectures (orbit regime, spacecraft configuration, ConOps, key trade-offs) across the full system. End-to-end system ownership: Ensure technical coherence and integration across space segment, ground segment, launcher, and user segment solutions. Technical proposal ownership: Author and own the technical content of RFI/RFP responses and customer proposals, including solution sizing, feasibility assessment, and cost/performance trade-offs. Stakeholder & technical leadership: Serve as the primary technical counterpart in discussions with customers, partners, and universities. Project execution: Lead the technical execution of won contracts, coordinating with engineering teams across the Group and ensuring delivery against contractual and mission requirements. Team leadership: Build and lead the German engineering team as it scales, from first technical hires to a full engineering function. Technical credibility & positioning: Represent Infinite Orbits' technical capabilities at conferences, technical reviews, and partner meetings, ensuring accurate, defensible framing of platform maturity and capability status. Group cooperation & technical interface: Work closely with Engineering in Toulouse and other Group entities to incorporate existing product and technology solutions into German customer offerings, align technical roadmaps across entities, and ensure proposal feasibility, technical consistency, and knowledge transfer to the German team as it grows. Requirements Education & Experience Engineering degree in aerospace, space systems engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in space systems engineering, mission design, or technical leadership roles, including direct customer-facing work. Track record of technical proposal writing and leading project execution in the space or defense sector; prior team-leadership experience is a plus. Skills & Other Requirements Strong command of mission architecture and systems engineering across the full mission lifecycle - concept, design, verification, and operations. Working knowledge across space segment, ground segment, launcher interfaces, and user segment integration. Excellent structured written and verbal communication in both German and English; able to convey complex technical topics clearly to varied audiences. Strong stakeholder management and the credibility to represent the company technically in high-stakes settings. Autonomy and ownership - able to build technical structure and processes from scratch, including growing and leading a team. Frequent travel required - within Germany and to Infinite Orbits' HQ in Toulouse and other European locations. European nationality required Advanced/Fluent in German required What we offer A founding technical role in a growing European space and defense company, with direct influence on its technical direction, team, and market credibility. Exposure to senior industry stakeholders in the German space sector. Apply Now
