Senior Network Engineer
Client is hosting services for its clients around the world (New York, London, Tokyo, Toronto and Zurich)1. To benefit from redundant services, to segment the way our services are reachable; to increase our capacity to handle more traffic and to have more visibility on network KPIs, we decided to improve the company’s current architecture. The objective is to offer our customer a state of the art network that meets their high performance, default tolerant, scalable and reliability requirements, in a fast-evolving landscape
Vos missions
Position Summary
The Senior Network Engineer will manage the network of Client’s cloud, design and deploy the new network architecture. This role involves not only hands-on installation, configuration, maintenance, intervention in datacenters, troubleshooting, and monitoring of Client’s network, but also providing technical leadership and guidance to a team of Network Engineers. As a project manager, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for managing all communication related to his or her projects, reporting status on a regular basis weekly, and ensuring knowledge transfers and thorough documentation of the work. This role will also be crucial in mentoring junior team members and driving best practices within the network team.

- Works closely with System Admins, Product Owners, PBGs and NOC Technicians 8
- Interacts with the following departments or external organizations: Technology, Sales & Customer, Delivery 9, clients, suppliers, regulators
Role and Responsibilities
The role will consist in:
- Leading and overseeing the planning, execution, and support of network day to day activities and the projects within the expected delivery timeline, ensuring proper reporting and escalation.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to the other Network Engineers.
- Contributing to the creation and implementation of network procedures and ensuring their adherence by the team
- Develop new network solutions/architectures to better meet with customer’s requirements
- Manage network incidents from end to end
- Identifying peering requests, planning, and executing network peering within the expected delivery timeline, with proper reporting and escalation, and delegating tasks as appropriate.
- Being reachable to help during emergency escalations and coordinating team response
- Ensuring efficient cooperation with all teams
- Overseeing and contributing to maintaining network (configuration scripts, monitoring…)
- Overseeing and conducting firmware upgrades if necessary
- Enforce network security standards
- Developing and implementing training programs (e.g. smartAcademy) for the network team.
- Conducting performance reviews and providing feedback to team members.
- Monitor the network technology evolution
- Participating in strategic planning for network infrastructure improvements.
Vos compétences
Position Requirements
- 8+ years of work experience responsible for deploying and operating large-scale networks, with at least 2-3 years in a senior role.
- Excellent knowledge of the OSI layers17.
- Excellent knowledge of the following routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, PIM, Multicast, ECMP, PBR (Policy Based Routing)18.
- Excellent knowledge of the following open-source tools: FRR, BIRD, Iptables, OpenVPN, Ipsec, Oxidized19.
- In-Depth understanding of IP, TCP, UDP20.
- Good knowledge of DNS, DHCP, PKI21.
- Good knowledge of cross connect22.
- Good knowledge of Linux environments23.
- Good knowledge of public cloud environments (e.g. AWS, GCP…)
- Good knowledge of network security standards
- Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with networking hardware (Vyos, Arista, DELL Force10, Juniper)24.
- Experience working with automatization tools like Ansible25.
- Experience in at least one programming language like Python, Go, C/C++ for developing automation software or tooling26.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and delivering against deadlines27.
- Experience working in global team environments and solving problems28.
- Good knowledge of data center architecture (Leaf & spine, Collapsed Core, Three-Tier)29.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills30.
- Strong leadership and autonomy
- Ability foster a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to be on call duty or to work during the weekend
- High ability to adapt and anticipate
- Languages: French and English, professional
